The appearance of mold or fungus may be alarming, but they do not affect the operation of the Urban Worm Bag. In fact, they are great decomposers.

However, mold and fungus may indicate that conditions are too wet or too rich with nitrogen-rich organic waste in your Bag. We suggest making sure to add 2x the volume of bedding to food waste each time you feed. Good sources of bedding are: coco coir, peat moss, dead/decomposing leaves, shredded paper or cardboard, Pitt Moss, compost, or aged horse manure.
